Your Personal Information, Your Rights

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides California residents with specific rights regarding their personal information. Learn about your CCPA rights and how to exercise them.

Types of Requests

Under the CCPA, California residents have the right to make Access, Deletion, and Do Not Sell My Personal Information Requests of businesses. These requests can be made by the California resident or by an Authorized Agent or Parent or Legal Guardian on their behalf. See below for more information and instructions on exercising these rights.

Access Request

As a California resident, you have the right to request access to the personal information we have about you.

For this type of request, LiveRamp will provide you with an Access Report which will contain an explanation of the information we collect, use, or sell about you, the categories of data we have collected about you, such as the categories of personal information and data sources and the categories of third parties with whom we have shared your information.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request

As a California resident, you have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. When you opt out, your personal information will no longer be sold or shared with third parties for their own use.

Deletion Request

As a California resident, you have the right to request deletion of the personal information we have about you.

Note: If you are planning to submit both a Deletion Request and an Access Request, we recommend that you submit the Access Request first, then submit a Deletion Request after reviewing your completed report from us. Otherwise, we will not have any personal information to return to you in an Access Request.

Also note that if you choose to have us delete your information, you will still continue to receive ads across the internet. If your goal is to minimize personalized ads by third parties who use our services and otherwise minimize their ability to transfer personal information about you, we recommend that you submit a Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request instead of a Deletion Request.

To learn more about the distinction between the Deletion Request and the Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request, please see the information in our FAQ section.

As a parent of a child under the age of 16, you may make an Access, Deletion, or Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request on behalf of your minor child. You will be required to provide the following information to us so we can verify your identity and your relationship to the child:

  1. Child’s personal information (e.g. child’s full name, child’s email address).
  2. Proof of your custodial guardianship of the child.
  3. Parent’s government-issued photo ID (California driver’s license is best).

If we learn that we have collected the personal information of someone under 16, we will delete that information from our database. If you believe we may have the personal information of someone under 16, please contact us here.

How do I find out what data LiveRamp knows about me?

In order to find out what information we have collected about you, you’ll need to submit an Access Request through this portal. As part of the Access Request process, you’ll be asked to verify and provide proof of residency in California.

Once you have successfully submitted your Access Request, we will provide you with a Consumer Access Report that describes the personal information about you that we have collected, sold, or disclosed in the past year. Per CCPA requirements, you may submit an Access Request two times in any one-year period.

How do I delete the data that LiveRamp knows about me?

In order to delete information we have about you, you’ll need to make a Deletion Request through this portal. As part of the deletion process, you’ll be asked to verify your identity and provide proof of residency in California.

Please note that if you choose to have us delete your information, you will still continue to receive ads across the internet. If your goal is to minimize personalized ads by third parties who use our services and minimize their ability to transfer personal information about you from one place to the other, we recommend that you submit a Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request instead of a Deletion Request.

What is the difference between a Deletion Request and a Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request?

A Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request is more effective than a Deletion Request to minimize personalized advertising by clients using our services, to prevent clients from transferring your personal information, and to prevent LiveRamp from selling your personal information in the future.

This is because when you submit a Deletion Request (as opposed to a Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request), we delete your personal information and, therefore, we cannot do anything to actively minimize the use of your personal information through our services. Consequently, our clients might still use our services to attempt to advertise to you or transfer your information from one place to another. In addition, your information may later reenter our databases and, because we deleted all of your information, we will not have the ability to recognize you as someone who wishes to minimize the future use or sale of your data. On the other hand, if you make a Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request, we will place your identifiers on a filter to prevent, to the best of our ability: (1) LiveRamp clients from serving you personalized ads (2) LiveRamp clients from transferring your personal information, and (3) LiveRamp from “selling” your personal information in the future.

How long does LiveRamp have to respond to my Access or Deletion Request?

We will respond to your Access or Deletion Request within 45 days of receiving your request. If we need more time to process your request, we will notify you within the first 45 days and will request an extension for up to an additional 45 days. If we find that we are unable to respond to your request, we will let you know why and provide your rights to appeal our decision.

I opted out. Why am I still seeing advertisements?

We respect the desire to opt out of services enabled and facilitated by LiveRamp. Please note that submitting a Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request means that your data will no longer be used for targeted advertising by our clients who use our services. You may still receive targeted advertising but it will not be fueled by our products or services, or they will not be relevant to your interests and preferences.

We recommend that you also opt out using the Digital Advertising Alliance’s (DAA) opt-out page. This solution will give you broader reach in opting out of ads based on your interests.

How do I stop receiving personalized advertising?

If your goal is to minimize personalized ads by third parties who use our services, we recommend that you submit a Do Not Sell My Personal Information Request and we will place your identifiers on a filter to minimize our clients’ ability to serve you personalized ads or otherwise transfer your personal information using LiveRamp’s services.
